Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Warrington Road Club Response: 17/03/2020
Following guidance from the government and actions taken by British Cycling, Cycling UK and other cycling institutions, Warrington Road Club official rides are suspended until further notice.
Saturday social, Sunday rides, Wednesday to the Mills and Chain Gangs are all postponed until due course.
Please do not meet at these usual times and do not meet in groups in club kit, this is forbidden and is not for debate.
Not something any of us wanted, but we must fall in line such recommendations at this time, which includes some of our fellow local clubs.
Of course there is no restriction on cycling at this time from the government, we hope this continues of course as other countries at this time are not so lucky. So please by all means ride solo and please do so safely.
Plan your rides appropriately, take food with you as you may find that a lot of cafes will shut, we wish them (and you) all the best in this difficult time.
Please stay in contact with each other using Facebook, email, phone, text, etc.
Stay fit and keep those pedals turning! Zwift and other Apps are about 12 quid a month, seeing your club members virtually bobbing their heads on a screen may just be the motivation to keep you on a turbo…
Committee members will post out some of the official notices over the coming days from the likes of British Cycling and Cycling UK as it may have some useful information and Q&A’s about the current situation.
Stay safe and best wishes.
WRC Committee.
NOTES:
Cycling Time Trials (CTT) races are all suspended until the End Of May, this includes our own 50 Mile Harry Barker memorial ride which will no longer take place.
TLI have suspended all races until further notice.
British Cycling have suspended all cycling activities until at least the 30th April.
