Warrington Road Clubs first Open event of the year (Harry Barker Memorial 50 Mile Time Trial) ended in success with the Fastest Team award going to the Warrington veteran riders Steve Hilton, Steve Hankey and Dave Fox combined times being faster than any other club in the open event. On a warm but windy day, the teams combined time was 06:05:10 the fastest being Steve Hilton (01:57:12), then Steve Hankey, (01:58:20) and Dave Fox (02:09:38). Each rider has started the season well with, Hilton clocking the fastest 10, 25 and 50 times in the club so far, Hankey is his best form in a couple of years with 6 top 10 finishes in time trials and Fox also started with good TT time and a 6th place in the recent Steve Jones Memorial Road Race.
On the 27th January at Lymn Hotel, Warrington Road Club held their 94th Annual Dinner and Presentation Award evening in honour of the celebrating the previous years riders achievements, but also the year in general for the club.
Steve Hilton has broken his own club record for the 3rd year running the Club 25 Record with a time of 50:37 on the R25/3H course in Wales last weekend, knocking 10 seconds off his own record. The Vet is in fine form going in to the final stages of the season still looking to beat his own 10 and 50 mile times.
Matt Gibson, 20 from Lymn, Warrington returned to the racing circuit this year in pure style this last week as he was crowned the HSBC 2017 UK National Crit Champion.
The racing season well underway and Warrington Road Club riders have started the season well some good places and times to show for a long winter of training. Paul Gibson has started the year on top form after a good track winter season with several top 5 finishes including 3rd at the Cheshire Road Race Series and a 2nd place finish at the Darley Moor Criterium in late March.
