WRC Club Handicap 2024

Chapeau to the VTTA for putting this event on run by a good friend of the club Robbie Harcourt who did a great job on the day for making this event happen. For the second year running the event was 15 Miles on the J2/9 circuit, starting at the 50 Mile starting point finishing at the end of the drag on the A50, it seems very popular with a number of riders to do something a little different.

Good weather with a field of 60 riders in total and 5 starters from Warrington who entered for our Club Handicap competition.

Two WRC none starters gave us a starting line-up as below with the below handicap.

Handicap Time Trial Competition 1^st July 2023

(as part of the VTTA M&D Time Trial Event)

Back on the agenda for the first time since 1974 and in our 100^th Year as a club, we brought back the Handicap Time Trial event for a fun race day with the intention to level the field. The idea being a Time Trail at a set distance in a race against the clock with all riders being given a time handicap based on their historical and suggested ability. Should all riders ride to their handicapped time, then all riders set the same time, hence the best performer on the day wins the event. (Should, of course, the Handicappers get the predicted times correct).

Gaz, Mark and Carl’s End to End

Friends Gareth Hinde, Mark Tickle and Carl Johnston (members of Warrington Road Club and Leigh Premier combined) will be embarking on a 900+ mile bike ride from Land’s End to John o’ Groats on Saturday, April 23. They aim to complete the ride self-supported in 13 days. Daily mileage will range from 65 miles to 100 miles. They will travel through Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Monmouthshire, Herfordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, the Scottish Borders, Lanarkshire, Argyll and Bute and the Scottish Highlands.
